Information about Public Viewing at the FSU Observatory

The FSU Observatory is frequently open to the public during FSU Astronomy Open House Events. The dates of future events are given on the Open House page.

If it is clear, the Observatory is open during a portion of the Open House Events to provide the public the opportunity to view celestial objects through our telescopes. There is no admission charge. We encourage community groups to visit the observatory during these events. Please notify us in advance if your group is larger than 20 people. The public can call 672-1785 for a recorded message regarding the prospect for the sky to be clear enough for the observatory to be open if it is not obvious.

The observatory dome is open to the sky when in use, so you will essentially be outside. You should bring a jacket if the outside temperature is below 15 deg. C (60 deg. F).
