FSU Astronomy Program Information Form
Astronomy programs are available at FSU for community groups.
However, due to limited resources at the current time,
we cannot accommodate all requests. If
you would like us to consider providing a custom planetarium
program for your group, please complete this form, and
return it to Professor Mattox.
We will inform you of the status of your application within
approximately one week of
the receipt of the form.
We normally require a minimum of 15 participants to schedule a program.
Our primary mission is to
motivate youth to
learn all they can about science and math.
Our programs are most effective if your group learns something about
astronomy prior to the visit, and then follows up on astronomy after
the planetarium visit.
Our web pages are at
http://astro.uncfsu.edu/.
Please provide us with the following information:

Our Observatory viewing includes interesting objects that are in the sky at the time,
e.g., the Moon and planets, double stars, nebulae, galaxies. A clear sky is required. During the day we can
view Sunspots and Venus.
Our Planetarium program for groups normally
provides an orientation to the night sky, the solar system, and our place in
the Universe.
Is this program desirable? _______
If not, describe the experience you would like for your group.
Directions
The Observatory and Planetarium are both in the Lyons Science Building.
The Observatory is on the 4th floor and the Planetarium is on the ground floor
at the north end of the building.
Here is a
campus map.
You may park in cars in Lot R (if there is space). If Lot R is full, Lot C-1
almost always space and is not much further. It also can accomodate buses.
If you are unable to come at your scheduled time or are delayed:
please inform John Mattox
as soon as possible by e-mail or phone (910-672-1785).
