The members of this
class are expected to observe the following five (four) principles:
Excellence We
will strive for excellence by

arriving on time for every class meeting and
activity,

always being prepared for class;
·
meeting deadlines, and
·
always submitting work that reflects our very
best efforts.
Integrity We
will act on a sense of personal and academic integrity by:
- valuing
truthfulness in discussions and relationships,
- claiming
authorship only for our own work, and
- giving
appropriate citations when we draw information and ideas from other
sources.
Community We
will recognize and act on the responsibility to contribute to a larger
community by:
- always
being prepared to contribute to class discussions and group projects,
- fulfilling
our individual responsibilities for group assignments, and
- contributing
to the overall success of the class.
Perspective of Others We will recognize and act
on the responsibility to take seriously the perspective others by:
- respecting
all other members of the class, including those who have different personal
histories than one’s own;
- listening
non-judgmentally to ideas and viewpoints different from one’s own,
- enlarging
one’s own perspective by learning from others.
Ethical Competence We will develop competence in
ethical and moral reasoning by:
- increasing
our awareness of the multiple ways one’s actions and decisions affect
others;
- stating
and defending specific ethical principles;
- evaluating
decisions and actions, one’s own and others, on the basis of ethical
principles.
